This is one of our best-sellers, a true companion to our Holy Land Pilgrimage. The tragic history of the land and sad events of the past hundred years lead to very dismissive attitude to Turkey as a pilgrim and cultural destination. But I see that as a great injustice. That land is mightily important in the history of the Church, not only to the Orthodox, but to the Christian identity at large, not to mention that it is soaked with blood of our martyrs. Avoiding it under political pretext would be doing injustice to our past. A past that remains in very visible forms.
We begin our journey in Cappadocia, a fantastic landscape and one of the birth places of Christian monasticism. After visiting many sites associated with the Apostles and other famous Christian saints along the Mediterranean and Aegean Seas, we end up in Constantinople.
